Public — the pages a stranger sees

E1, the sign-in page a product serves at /; E3 behind its enter a code; the waiting list behind no code?; and E4, where somebody with no account at all leaves one publication. Everything here is read by somebody the product knows nothing about, which is a constraint before it is a style: no refusal is a dead end, and nothing on any of these surfaces ever says whether an address belongs to an account. The door knows four refusals and E3 draws three — a withdrawn code renders as we do not know this code, the one card with no false sentence in it.

E4 goes the other way and draws four where its door has four, and the difference is arithmetic rather than taste: an activation code is forty bits, so telling a guesser that one exists but is spent is worth having a throttle for; a donation token is 256 bits, where a guesser runs out of universe rather than attempts. The fold upstream chose costs the commonest honest reader — whose link broke across lines in an email — the truth, so it is not made here.

All three pages sit in the same PublicFrame, so the thing to watch when you switch is what does not move: one wordmark row, one language control, one footer, and only the column width changes — 520px on E1, 560px on E3, 680px on E4, as the design sets them.

Addresses to try in the modal: e.dijkstra@example.nl is one, dijkstra is not, and a field holding only spaces is the third thing the copy has a sentence for. On E1 the answer is the same panel whoever you are — a member, a stranger and a rate-limited address all reach sent, which is the difference between a members-only product and a membership directory anyone can query one address at a time.
